Carl Sagan QuoteMIn a world where changing your mind is sometimes called “flip-flopping” we appreciate science because it creates openings for discussion, allows for new understandings, and gives us opportunities for change.  For some reason, saying “I was mistaken” or even “I was wrong” is very difficult for all of us.  But science provides a venue where new ideas can be presented, questioned and tested in a way that turns saying, “Oh this is a better answer than my old one,” into a simple act of wisdom.

That’s why we focus on providing you with data whenever we can.  It isn’t our intent to tell you what to do with the new information.  We simply hope that you’ll use it to make your lives better.  And if you have questions about what we share, do let us know.  We’re more than happy to find more information for you.

About the author

editor and contributor

Kathy worked with the Bureau of Land Management for 12 years before founding Livestock for Landscapes in 2004. Her twelve years at the agency allowed her to pursue her goal of helping communities find ways to live profitably AND sustainably in their environment. She has been researching and working with livestock as a land management tool for over a decade. When she’s not helping farmers, ranchers and land managers on-site, she writes articles, and books, and edits videos to help others turn their livestock into landscape managers.
