First – THANK YOU! We were overwhelmed last week by all the support that came in to meet our grant match before the deadline. And we did it! I’m behind on thank you notes and mailing out bumper stickers, but please know how grateful I am and that they’ll be on their way soon!

Next – I’ll be in Reno, Nevada next week for the 7th National Grazing Lands Conference, organized by the National Grazing Lands Coalition. What I like about this conference is that it puts farmers and ranchers front and center so they can share what they’ve learned from the things that didn’t work, and what they’ve done that works.

Joining me are three On Pasture authors, Jenn Colby, Meg Grzeskiewicz and John Marble. We have a symposium on Tuesday, December 4: “On Pasture Experience Network (OPEN): Building Success One Skill at a Time. We’ll be talking about all the skills and knowledge farmers and ranchers need, from doing the daily chores to understanding economics and ecosystems and playing well with others. We’ll talk about problems we encountered because of a skill deficit, and how we developed those we didn’t have. We’ll also share resources that participants can use to add to their skill sets over time. We hope to have a lively discussion.

There are going to be more great presentations to hear than I can possibly get to, but I’ll be focused on  gathering great ideas so that I can share what I learn with the On Pasture Community. Meanwhile, if you need to get a hold of me anytime between November 30 and December 5, know that I’m a little busy and I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can.

And if you’re going to be there, stop by our booth and say Hi! I’m looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks for reading!
