ArborLinks: Collaboration from Start to Finish and Beyond

This presentation will include the environmental focus of all aspects of the planning, design, construction, and operations of the golf course.  Key elements include conservation/protection of the land, utilization/incorporation of existing features on the property, minimal or reduced future inputs for maintenance, and environmental stewardship education for the guests.

Mr. Merkel earned a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy—Turfgrass Management from Texas A&M University in 1985 and a Master of Science in Agronomy from The University of Nebraska in 2013.  He earned his Certified Golf Course Superintendent status from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America in 1994.  He is currently Landscapes Unlimited’s Director of Agronomy and is responsible for the on-going maintenance of the portfolio of the 45 owned and managed golf courses.  The primary responsibilities include providing support and direction to facility managers on golf course conditions, special projects, and capital improvements.
