Flying Diamond Ranch Tour: A WLA Stewardship in Action event

May 24 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free
Are you interested in learning ways to lower operating costs while creating sustainable, ecologically-sound conditions for both land and cattle?
As you look to the next generation, do you consider how best to balance the management of agricultural production, natural resources and family relationships?
The Flying Diamond Ranch is a fifth generation, family-owned and operated commercial cattle ranch located in eastern Colorado. The Johnson family has been running cattle and caring for the arid prairie rangeland near Kit Carson since 1907. As they look toward future generations on the ranch, they remain steadfast in managing a financially sustainable operation by continually improving the cattle, enhancing their natural resources and fostering close family relationships.

Tour topics will include on-the-ground ecological and economic benefits of adaptive management, rotational grazing and rest, water and fence infrastructure, and how healthy cattle and healthy rangelands work together. A more detailed schedule is below.

Want to learn more about the Flying Diamond? Watch this short video from the Johnson’s NCBA Environmental Stewardship Award and join us on May 24th!

Space is limited. RSVP to hallie@westernlandowners.org by May 16 to reserve your spot!
