“Soil Health & What it Means to You” Workshop & Ag Expo

The Rosebud Conservation District & the Treasure County Conservation District are hosting our second “Soil Health & What it Means to You” Workshop & Ag Exposition on November 30th & December 1st, 2016 in Forsyth Montana, at the Rosebud/Treasure County Fair Grounds Exhibition Hall. We have several speakers who will speak on a variety of farming and ranching techniques. The workshop is limited to 200 participants.


Speakers include: Jay Fuhrer, District Conservationists for the Natural Resource and Conservation Service in Bismarck North Dakota. Jay emphasizes the importance of Soil Health farming & ranching practices to improve soil health and ultimately human health. Brendon Rockey, operates Rockey Farms LLC in Center, Colorado along with his brother Sheldon.  He is a third generation potato farmer, and by incorporating innovative sustainable growing practices and new varieties of potatoes they have taken their operation to a new level.  Gregg Simonds, President of Open Range Consulting, will present on the successful management of working landscapes for biological & economical values. Rebecca Larsen, Research Agronomist for Western Sugar Cooperative, will present on GMO crops and how they are tested. Jill Clapperton, Rhizoterra Inc. will discuss the basics of soil biology and ways to improve soil health. Jimmy Emmons, 3rd Generation dryland farmer from Leedey Oklahoma will share his experiences with dryland farming and improving soil health.
