This New Podcast Will Get Your Business Going

Charlotte Smith heard some disturbing USDA statistics a few years ago:

“Three hundred farmers go out of business every week in the United States.

Eighty percent are are out of business by year two,

and only 2% of farmers are still around at year five.”

That’s something Charlotte is determined to change, so, with her new Profitable Mindset podcast, she’s sharing everything she learned from starting her own farm over a decade ago, and from helping thousands more farmers set up to be both profitable and sustainable.

The first five episodes cover the “25 Steps You Need to Start Your Farm Business.” In episodes 6 and 7 she dives into the nitty gritty of finding customers who value your product. Each podcast is about 20 minutes long and supported by links to free courses, tech tutorials, spreadsheets to help with budgeting, checklists and more.

I’ve enjoyed these podcasts and have learned a lot. Whether our a beginning farmer/rancher, or someone with experience interested in improving profitability, the Profitable Mindset podcasts will give you a lot to think about. I highly recommend heading over to Charlotte’s website to check them out. Scroll down to Episode 001 and click to listen online at the 3Cow Marketing website, or to find the links to download the podcast from Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcast, iTunes, and for Android.

Enjoy the inspiration!

I am the founder, editor and publisher of On Pasture, now retired. My career spanned 40 years of finding creative solutions to problems, and sharing ideas with people that encouraged them to work together and try new things. From figuring out how to teach livestock to eat weeds, to teaching range management to high schoolers, outdoor ed graduation camping trips with fifty 6th graders at a time, building firebreaks with a 130-goat herd, developing the signs and interpretation for the Storm King Fourteen Memorial trail, receiving the Conservation Service Award for my work building the 150-mile mountain bike trail from Grand Junction, Colorado to Moab, Utah...well, the list is long so I'll stop with, I've had a great time and I'm very grateful.
