Stresses Affecting Graziers and How to Deal With Them – Kathy’s on a Podcast!

This week, I’m featured in the latest episode of Ag State of Mind. This podcast examines the stresses affecting farmers and ranchers and how to alleviate them and improve producers’ lives. In our wide-ranging discussion, host Jason Medows and I talk about everything from the ways On Pasture supports producers by providing information that can help them be more sustainable and profitable, to what I’ve learned about communicating with folks who don’t understand the important role graziers play in creating healthy ecosystems. And, because this podcast focuses on mental health, I also talk about how I’ve learned to deal with my own chronic depression, including insights for managing it and resources I hope will help others.

It’s not often that I talk this much about myself. So, if you’d like to know more about why I created On Pasture, how to deal with what you read and hear that makes you say, “OMG!”, and some of my history, then check it out. It’s about 50 minutes long, so if you like, you can download it to your device from iTunes or Stitcher, or listen on Spotify.

Does Crowded Holiday Shopping Stress You Out?
Shop On Pasture!

On a slightly different topic – if you don’t like crowds, you’ve probably already figured out that online shopping is a good way to avoid them. If it helps you, I’d like to add the On Pasture Shop to your list. You’ll find links to books by On Pasture authors and gift ideas perfect for the grazier on your list. They’re the kinds of gifts that will keep on giving this grazing season and long into the future. They’re also gifts that help On Pasture keep sending you great information. When you purchase one of the linked items from Amazon, On Pasture gets a small percentage of that purchase. So – thanks in advance!

I wish the best to all of you this Holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for reading!

I am the founder, editor and publisher of On Pasture, now retired. My career spanned 40 years of finding creative solutions to problems, and sharing ideas with people that encouraged them to work together and try new things. From figuring out how to teach livestock to eat weeds, to teaching range management to high schoolers, outdoor ed graduation camping trips with fifty 6th graders at a time, building firebreaks with a 130-goat herd, developing the signs and interpretation for the Storm King Fourteen Memorial trail, receiving the Conservation Service Award for my work building the 150-mile mountain bike trail from Grand Junction, Colorado to Moab, Utah...well, the list is long so I'll stop with, I've had a great time and I'm very grateful.

Nearly a week has blown by, but I finally got a chance to listen to your interview just this morning. Outstanding work, really. Thank you for always putting yourself into the business of serving others. That is a model all of us could emulate.

    Sincerely,
