On Pasture and the Yule Book Flood

Jolabokaflod – In Iceland that’s the word for this time of year. Translated directly, it means “Yule Book Flood.” It’s a celebration of both the Holiday season and the Icelandic passion for books. It begins with every family in the country getting the annual catalog of the year’s new books in the mail to help them choose gifts for their friends and family. It culminates on Christmas Eve, when people spend all night reading the books they’ve been gifted – and eating chocolate!

Since I’m an author, editor, publisher (and chocolate lover), it’s probably no surprise that I think Jolabokaflod is a great idea. I like stories, and I like to learn, and books are a great way to do that.

Giving you things to read that will help you improve your operation is also how I serve the On Pasture community. So this year, I’ve set up a Jolabokaflod for On Pasture. I’ve put together our own catalog with books on grass and weed ID, and grazing management. It includes books by On Pasture authors and books that they’ve read and recommended. Finally, I’ve also added suggestions that are just for fun, and products that might make your life easier.

So, head on over and take a look at the On Pasture catalog/shop. Choose something for the graziers in your life, or for yourself, and then, let’s all read together on December 24, and maybe eat a little chocolate too.

I’ll enjoy imagining the whole On Pasture community curled up with a good book!

Thanks for reading!
