This photo comes to us from the University of Wyoming, and if your skin is itching just imagining this many flies on you, then you know what this poor cow feels like. Normal seasonal infestation rates range from 500 to 1,500 flies per animal. Obligate blood feeders, horn flies feed 20 to 30 times a day causing significant damage to the host animal.
