Tracking down what your state’s poultry processing laws can be frustrating. So we knew that you’d like to see this map and chart from the Farmer to Consumer Legal Defense Fund. Just click on the map below and you’ll head over to their site. You can mouse-over your state to see what the processing limits are. Then scroll down to the chart that breaks down the Federal Exemption Level of the number of birds you can process, Facility Requirements, Sales Venues and Licensing Requirements.  It may not be everything you need to know, but it’s a really great place to start.

About the author

Publisher, Editor and Author

Kathy worked with the Bureau of Land Management for 12 years before founding Livestock for Landscapes in 2004. Her twelve years at the agency allowed her to pursue her goal of helping communities find ways to live profitably AND sustainably in their environment. She has been researching and working with livestock as a land management tool for over a decade. When she's not helping farmers, ranchers and land managers on-site, she writes articles, and books, and edits videos to help others turn their livestock into landscape managers.
